According to one of the oldest legends, around the 3rd century BCE, a man named Xu Fu was sent by China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, to search for an elixir of immortality. His journey is said to have brought him to Mount Furou in Matsuura. This photobook began with a hypothetical but haunting idea: if such an elixir had truly existed—and if it had spilled and seeped into the land—could the entire city have become immortal? Through a blend of street photography and landscapes, this photobook explores the passage of time and the enduring presence.
